2 years- Licenses renew every 2 years; since July 15, 2023 (RSA 310:8), licenses expire two years from their date of issuance rather than on your birthday.
Total CE hours
60 hours- 60 contact hours in the 2 years before renewal (Nur 401.03):
- 30 hours satisfying RN continuing competence
- An additional 30 APRN hours
- Current national certification is mandatory and may count for 30 of the 60 hours.
Pharmacology CE
5 hours- 5 of the additional 30 APRN hours must be education in pharmacology, appropriate to your specialty practice area (N.H. Admin. Code Nur 401.03).
Controlled-substance CE
3 hours- APRNs who prescribe controlled substances or hold DEA registration: 3 of the 5 required pharmacology hours must address opioid prescribing, pain management, or substance use disorder (NH opioid-prescribing CE rules, Nur 400/RSA 326-B framework).
- DEA registrants: one-time 8-hour federal DEA MATE Act training in addition.
Good to know
- Per Nur 403.01(d), at least 20 of the additional 30 APRN hours must be specific to your specialty practice area (this sits alongside the Nur 401.03 continued-competence framework of 60 total hours with certification counting for 30).
